CrossFit | Forging Elite FitnessHumans do not move in isolation or with isolated or single plane movements.  The human body is a dynamic machine that was built to move, stretch, compress across all tissues, bones and joints.  CrossFit challenges this dynamic machine.  Movement faults uncovered during activity cause pain, decrease performance and are a potential cause of injury.

 A movement fault is a loss of movement. Functional movement is not limited to the movement addressed with typical stretches such as quad, hamstring or shoulder stretches or the specific directional movement repeated on exercise equipment. Functional movements, such as a deadlift, push press, or squat requires the ability to move in multiple planes at one time.

Perfect examples of this are Yoga and CrossFit.  Both require movement in multiple movement planes.  Yoga is static movement.  CrossFit is dynamic movement.

Exercise programs such as Yoga and CrossFit, will uncover movement faults, which will limit your performance, cause pain, and create a potential for injury.

Movement faults can occur in all tissues and joints.  Movement faults in most tissues can be restored with standard stretches. 

Movement faults involving a nerve require a specific kind of movement to correct the fault.  Recurrent pain that does not respond to standard stretches and is irritated by Yoga and CrossFit training, likely has a neural component that has not been identified.  Movement faults involving a nerve are called entrapments. 

 Common examples are:

Shoulder Pain • Stingers • Elbow Pain • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome • IT Band Syndrome 
Anterior Knee Pain • Shin Splints • Heel Pain • Plantar Fasciitis
