CHC Physical Therapy Specializes in Outstanding Care for Patients with Headaches

Headaches are a widespread complaint of people of all ages. Headaches can be medical or mechanical in origin. A Migraine headache is usually medical in nature, although, some headaches of mechanical origin can mimic a Migraine headache. A mechanical headache can originate from the neck and radiate to the head. (Just as pain in the leg can originate in the back.) These headaches can resemble Migraine, and can be severe enough to interfere with one's normal lifestyle.

Headaches that are cervical (from the neck) in nature can occur across the forehead, or radiate from the base of the skull to behind the eye. These headaches are almost always affected by positioning, and are usually aggravated by prolonged sitting such as driving or sitting at an office desk. At CHC Physical Therapy, we can locate the mechanical cause of the headache through an extensive cervical spine evaluation using, The McKenzie Method.

Treatment is focused on exercises and posture education to restore normal mechanics of the cervical spine.
